Cruce Andino

Bariloche - Puerto Montt - 1 day or 2 days.

This story begins back in 1913, when a group of tourists led by Ricardo Roth, crosses the Andes through a border passage linking Peulla (on the Chilean side) with Bariloche (on the Argentine side). As a convenient alternative to join these two neighboring countries, by crossing ‘the southern cone’ Cruce Andino is born and becomes an ecology adventure you can not miss.

7:00 hs. Passengers pick-up at the arranged locations.
A bus travel takes us to Puerto Pañuelo, during the trip by the coast of Lago Nahuel Huapi we can appreciate the beautiful Swiss-style architecture featured by all of the buildings in the region, with lovely gardens and flowers coloring the view until we arrive at Puerto Pañuelo to embark on one of the ferries, named “Victoria Andina” and “Victoria del Lago”, and sail across Lago Nahuel Huapi for an hour to reach Puerto Blest.

9:30 hs. Sail towards Puerto Blest in a 15 miles course where we can enjoy the greatness of the scenery, the intense green of the forests around us, the birds closing in with curiosity and the opportunity to learn about the history of this place.

10:30 hs. We arrive at Puerto Blest where buses are waiting to take us by the Frías river for about 1,8 mi. to Puerto Alegre. Then we go on board of the ship named “Ciudad de la Fe” and cross the Frías lake with its peaceful and virgin waters of deep green color on our way to Puerto Frías. During this stage, we can enjoy the stunning image of the 11.453 feet tall Cerro Tronador. After a short 20 minutes navigation we reach the small harbor of Puerto Frías embedded into the gorgeous vegetation.

12:00 hs. After the required procedures to cross the argentine Customs office in Puerto Frías, we continue on a bus trip to Peulla, appreciating the exuberant vegetation of the Andes and the view of Cerro Tronador with its 9 glaciers on the pinnacle, to finally enter the Perez Rosales national park where Peulla is located. In Peulla itself our entrance to Chile is processed and we are led to hotel Peulla or Hotel Natura Patagónica for lunch (meal not included).

16:30 hs. Time to resume our journey to Petrohué, Peulla, navigating Lago Todos los Santos. If weather conditions allow it, we will visit Volcán Osorno and Volcán Puntiagudo and then be surprised by Cerro Tronador.

18:00 hs. Continuing to Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt we visit the Saltos de Petrohué falls, capricious shapes of volcanic rock, bathed by emerald streams of falling water. As we move on by the side of Lago Llanquihue, astounding views of Volcán Osorno and Volcán Calbuco dominate the landscape. When we finally arrive at Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt there is a transfer to the hotel and the service concludes.
